Mogu'shan Palace Run
Information
Mogu’shan Palace, located in the Vale of Eternal Blossoms at coordinates (80.0, 34.0), is a 5-man dungeon in World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria. This guide covers the dungeon’s three boss encounters—Trial of the King, Gekkan, and Xin the Weaponmaster—along with trash mechanics and strategies for normal (level 87–90) and heroic (level 90) difficulties.
Overview
Location: Vale of Eternal Blossoms, accessible via the dungeon entrance at the Palace of the Three Sisters.
Level Range: Normal (87–90), Heroic (90, requires item level 435).
Bosses: 3 (Trial of the King, Gekkan, Xin the Weaponmaster).
Lore: Mogu’shan Palace is a mogu stronghold where the ancient race tests its champions and maintains its grip on Pandaria. The dungeon explores the mogu’s brutal culture and their conflict with other races, culminating in a battle against Xin, a ruthless warlord.
General Tips
Trash Mobs: Mogu’shan Palace features mogu warriors, saurok, and quilen. Watch for Shockwave (AoE knockback) from Mogu Guardians and Serrated Blade (bleed DoT) from Kargesh Highguards. Interrupt Lightning Bolt from Saurok Skirmishers to reduce healer strain.
Crowd Control: Use CC (e.g., stuns, polymorph) on casters like Gurthan Arcanists to prevent Arcane Blast spam. Be cautious of quilen packs, which can overwhelm with melee damage.
Heroic Mode: Trash hits harder, and abilities like Shockwave have shorter cooldowns. Prioritize interrupts and focus down high-damage mobs like Gurthan Ironmaw (casts Crushing Stomp).
WoW Remix: Mists of Pandaria: In the Remix event (May 16–August 20, 2024), you can teleport to the dungeon via Dawnbringer Riyang at the Seat of Knowledge in Vale of Eternal Blossoms. Loot scales with player level, and bosses drop additional rewards like Bronze.
Boss 1: Trial of the King
Background: This encounter involves three mogu clan leaders—Kuai the Brute, Ming the Cunning, and Haiyan the Unstoppable—fighting in a rotating sequence to prove their worth. Each boss has unique abilities, and they must all be defeated.
Key Abilities:
Kuai the Brute:
Shockwave: AoE knockback that deals moderate damage. Avoid standing near edges to prevent falling.
Summon Quilen: Summons a quilen add that attacks the party. Kill it quickly.
Ming the Cunning:
Whirling Dervish: Spins, dealing AoE damage to nearby players. Move away when active.
Magnetic Field: Pulls all players to Ming, followed by AoE damage. Run out immediately.
Haiyan the Unstoppable:
Traumatic Blow: Heavy single-target melee attack with a bleed DoT. Tanks should use defensive cooldowns.
Conflagrate: Targets a player, dealing fire damage and disorienting them. Dispel or heal through.
Strategy:
Tank: Hold the active boss and pick up the quilen add from Kuai. Face bosses away from the group to avoid cleave from Traumatic Blow. Move out of Magnetic Field during Ming’s phase.
DPS: Focus the quilen add during Kuai’s phase, then switch to the active boss.лемент

Strategy:
Tank: Hold the active boss and pick up the quilen add from Kuai. Face bosses away from the group to avoid cleave from Traumatic Blow. Move out of Magnetic Field during Ming’s phase.
DPS: Focus the quilen add during Kuai’s phase, then switch to the active boss. Burn bosses quickly to minimize transitions. Save burst damage for Haiyan to counter Traumatic Blow.
Healer: Heal through Conflagrate and Shockwave AoE damage. Dispel disorients from Conflagrate if possible. Save cooldowns for heavy damage phases, especially Haiyan’s Traumatic Blow.
Heroic Mode: Quilen adds have more health, and Magnetic Field deals higher damage, requiring faster movement and interrupts.
Loot: Notable items include Cloak of the Dark Disciple (cloak, DPS) and Regal Silk Shoulderpads (shoulder, cloth).
Boss 2: Gekkan
Background: Gekkan, a saurok leader, is accompanied by four lieutenants (Glintrok Ironhide, Glintrok Skulker, Glintrok Oracle, and Glintrok Hexxer). This is a multi-target fight requiring coordination to handle adds and interrupts.
Key Abilities:
Gekkan:
Reckless Inspiration: Buffs his lieutenants, increasing their damage and attack speed. Stacks with each lieutenant’s death.
Glintrok Ironhide: Melee fighter; uses Ironhide Slam (high-damage frontal attack).
Glintrok Skulker: Stealthy rogue; uses Shank (high-damage single-target strike with bleed DoT).
Glintrok Oracle: Caster; casts Healing Wave (interruptible heal) and Fire Bolt (interruptible AoE).
Glintrok Hexxer: Caster; casts Shadow Bolt (interruptible damage) and Hex of Lethargy (reduces player attack/cast speed, dispelable).
Strategy:
Tank: Gather all enemies in a tight group for AoE damage. Face Ironhide away to avoid Ironhide Slam hitting the group. Pick up the Skulker if it targets a squishy player.
DPS: Prioritize killing the Oracle and Hexxer to reduce healing and spell damage. Interrupt Healing Wave and Shadow Bolt. Kill Gekkan last to minimize Reckless Inspiration stacks.
Healer: Dispel Hex of Lethargy if possible. Heal through Reckless Inspiration buffs, which increase damage as lieutenants die. Watch for Shank bleed on DPS.
Heroic Mode: Reckless Inspiration stacks faster, and lieutenants’ abilities deal more damage. Interrupt priority: Healing Wave > Shadow Bolt > Fire Bolt.
Loot: Includes Glintrok Sollerets (boots, plate) and Hexxer’s Lethargic Gloves (gloves, cloth).
Boss 3: Xin the Weaponmaster
Background: Xin, the mogu warlord, uses an arsenal of weapons and traps in the throne room, making this a mechanically intensive fight with environmental hazards.
Key Abilities:
Blade Trap: Activates spinning blades that move across the room, dealing heavy damage to players caught in their path.
Ground Slam: AoE shockwave that deals damage and knocks players back. Avoid standing near blade traps.
Whirl of Blades: Xin spins, throwing blades that deal AoE damage to nearby players. Move away when active.
Inciting Roar: Increases Xin’s damage and attack speed temporarily.
Strategy:
Tank: Position Xin away from blade traps and face him away from the group to avoid cleave. Use defensive cooldowns during Inciting Roar.
DPS: Stay spread out and avoid blade trap paths (visible as glowing lines on the floor). Move away during Whirl of Blades. Save burst damage for Inciting Roar to burn Xin quickly.
Healer: Be ready for heavy AoE damage from Ground Slam and Whirl of Blades. Heal players hit by blade traps immediately, as they take massive damage. Use cooldowns during Inciting Roar.
Heroic Mode: Blade traps move faster and deal more damage. Inciting Roar lasts longer, requiring precise positioning and healing.
Loot: Notable items include Weaponmaster’s Leggings (legs, mail) and Kingslayer Blade (weapon, sword).
